Luxembourg currently has 31,351 m2 of floor space for hosting, with this soon to be expanded to 40,751 m2, becoming the 5th largest in Europe, in hosting floor space.
Seventeen datacentres are currently operating in Luxembourg, with the majority of these having been built after 2005. Half offer Tier4 level services, as requested by the banks, for example, with the other at Tier2 level. The differences include false floor spaces, floor weight loads, power supply, including non-dependency - Luxembourg takes the majority of its power supplies from its three neighbouring countries.
Regarding electricity prices, Luxembourg is on the lower side of costs, compared to other main cities. And these costs will be reduced in the future, too. Most datacentres use Green Energy, and many screen air, including using cold external air for cooling purposes.
Regarding standards, Luxembourg adopts both European and world standards and codes of conduct, therefore ensuring a high-quality and guaranteed service. Apart from local datacentres providing hosting and connectivity services, some major worldwide actors have established operational presences in the Grand Duchy, with P&TLuxembourg’s ebrc the latest to announce a new hosting facility at the SES Astra premises in Betzdorf.
